A vibrant, traditional business park, located on the edge of Maidstone and looking out over agricultural fields, is a collection of bespoke business units. Due to the ever-increasing demand, we designed several additional phases.
This began with the expansion of One Hermitage Court, which has been extended and modernised to provide an ideal location for small and medium businesses. The estates buildings are all individually designed using materials that have been carefully chosen to create a harmonic estate of prestigious units. The new units sit well beside older modernised units and offer a wide range of sizes with plenty of parking on site.
For the second phase, a speculative scheme of two individual two storey office buildings were created. The client wanted an exemplary designed scheme which exploited the location and outlook and the result not only meets but exceeds expectations. Each building has its own personality, large areas of glazing to ensure good natural light but also allows the outside views across farmland to be drawn into the working environment.
The use of similar envelop materials ensures the buildings work together but the design has deliberately shied away from a pastiche barn style approach towards the modern and contemporary, providing a unique identity on this expanding commercial development.
In this last phase, the estate owners recognised the need to expand Unit E to provide increased and modern space for the successful and expanding tenant. We designed and obtained planning for the scheme which digs deep into the existing building envelop and extends the office space to all sides. This increased the building from 2,300 sq ft to 4,200 sq ft of Grade A office space.
